LGBT Education Library - The educational library is a collection of white papers designed to help raise awareness for outstanding issues that the LGBT community manages either as a community or by individuals. Each contribution should help the community see the other side of experiences that they may not understand or have been exposed to.

Below you will find published books to help guide your path in parenthood.

The Living With Change Foundation is 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting transgender youth and their families by providing education, resources, and financial assistance while fostering confidence and acceptance through change. While the foundation takes its name from the process transgender youth families go through when their child comes out as trans—learning to adapt to a new normal and accept your child for who they are—the Living With Change Foundation really found its beginnings with its namesake, LC Cicchinelli

PFLAG envisions a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed, inclusive of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

PFLAG provides an opportunity for confidential dialog about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human dignity. Meetings are open to all and are completely confidential.  What is said there stays there.  Confidentiality is important to most of us for one reason or another, and at all times we respect the rights of others.

Inclusive School Network

Mission: The Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. We believe that such an atmosphere engenders a positive sense of self, which is the basis of educational achievement and personal growth. Since homophobia and heterosexism undermine a healthy school climate, we work to educate teachers, students and the public at large about the damaging effects these forces have on youth and adults alike.

If the school that your students are attending doesn't have a structured GSTA the Ohio River Valley Pride Coalition’s mission is to advocate for LGBTQ+ individuals in our community, provide a support system for those individuals, and educate the public on key issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community. We strive to lower suicide rates through education and active prevention.

We also aim to eradicate discrimination against LGBTQ+ students by helping to establish GSTAs (gay-straight-trans alliances) in schools in our community and surrounding areas, along with providing the students and faculty involved with said groups the resources necessary to succeed.

For Parents

As a parent, it is important to know that your children are attending schools that will recognize their value as they grow. That especially applies if they identify as an LGBT student. Our inclusive school network includes schools that have GSTA student groups, assigned educators for the program, and diversity training for staff that helps everyone ensure that the educational experience is positive for every student.
